This brunch is highly Classified (Exchange Sq branch)

Having enjoyed the Wan Chai branch of the laid back Classified, it was time to BRANCH OUT (get it?) into Central for a relaxing Saturday brunch (take note though as they don’t open Sundays!). They certainly take chilling out seriously, with newspapers (including overseas ones) for your reading pleasure, and serving the breakfast menu until 3pm!

Classified is part of the Press Room Group – I also like their other efforts like The Pawn and SML which all have a unique feel about them.

I think going to Central on a weekend was a good call as this place was only half full (yes, I’m an optimist) even at noon -that said, it did start filling up by the time lunch rolled around.

Upon arrival I was greeted by the sight of my friend sipping a huge bowl of filter coffee. Not kidding, the size actually comes in regular, large and BOWL. I meekly settled for a large latte ($29). I had to add some sugar for this.

Being lazy we all decided on the English breakfast of sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs on sourdough toast, homemade beans and grilled tomatoes ($98).

Let’s start with the cons: the bacon was a bit salty, but at least wasn’t too dry, and the sausage was oily and kind of chewy.  However the scrambled eggs were tasty as was the sourdough bread, the tomato was relatively fresh and not deflated like in some places, and the beans were good, unlike the blatantly sour, canned variety you might get on a UK university campus!

The service was all round friendly.

The final bill came to $120 each, after a handy 20% discount from our Cathay Pacific staff member friend! I think it was reasonable, and based on price alone, the other menu items were also appropriately priced.  Will probably be back at some point to enjoy the natural lighting and laid back atmosphere, or maybe check out one of the other six branches dotted around HK.  I’ve been recommended the steak sandwich…

  1. Greetings! This is my first comment here so I just wnated to give a quick shout out and say I really enjoy reading through your articles. Can you suggest any other blogs/websites/forums that cover the same topics? Thank you!

    • Hi, thanks I appreciate your readership very much, just want to help! 🙂

Well for starters you can check out my friends’ food blogs, they’re at the top of this page (Food Mimosa, Savour this Flavour, Eva Likey).

Are you specifically looking for HK food? There’s an Amateur Gourmet group on Meetups.com that’s very active, and a few food bloggers out there…

What's on your mind?
